Identified as the King of GH-Rap and an African Hip-Hop Star, he goes by the birth name Desmond Kwesi Blackmore but is better known in showbiz circles as D-Black and is probably one of the best African Hip-Hop Artistes among the few from Ghana.
D-black is a music business entrepreneur /executive producer and English language spitting Hip hop artist from Ghana. He loves hearing good music and making great music. He runs his own marketing / advertising firm called “Black Avenue Works” that specializes in corporate & product advertising and marketing as well as corporate & social events. There’s a subsidiary of Black Avenue Works called Black Avenue Muzik. Black Avenue Muzik is an Indie Record Label and Distribution outlet in Ghana.

D-Black also just recently snagged a whooping 10 nominations in 4 weeks between the 21st of August and 23rd September . Two of them at the 2010 Channel O Music Video Awards scheduled for the 4th of November 2010 in Johannesburg – South Africa, leading the Ghanaian nomination list and attaining the position of the second highest most nominated African at the Awards, with nominations for “Most Gifted Hip Hop Video” and in the most Prestigious category for “Most Gifted Video of the Year” for his video “Breathe” with rap partner Kwaku-T. Also grabbing two nominations as a solo artist at the 20 0 Sound City Music Video Awards in Lagos ,Nigeria for the Best Collaboration in a Music Video for his “Somebody” song/video which features Kwabena Kwabena and Sound City Freshest Video for his brand new “Believe” Music Video as well as one nomination at the African Music Awards , U.K for Best African Music Video for “Breathe”. A whooping Five nominations at the 4Syte Music Video Awards 2010 in his home country Ghana two weeks after, scheduled for the 20th of November 2010 sealed the “10 nomination in one month envelope” for D-Black.
The man voted by MNet Africa as Africa’s 2nd Best Rapper for 2010 and 6th Most Stylish Male Celebrity for 2010, flies solo this time with a 20-track album with music he has written and recorded surrounding his life’s experiences and the music he loves hence the album’s title “Music , Love & Life”.

D-Black was featured on the 2010 BET (BLACK ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION) HIPHOP AWARDS CYPHER with 6 other Ghanaian rappers. This was the first time in the history of the BETHIPHOP AWARDS ,making them the first West African Artists to be featured on the BET CYPHER. This historical feat was directed by BET’S Lilian Blankson and aired on the 16TH of October 2010 on the BET INTERNATIONAL NETWORK all over the world to audiences in the U.K, Ireland, Middle East and Africa. Other artists that have been featured on the BET CYPHER include Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Eminem, Fabolous, Ace Hood, Juelz Santana, Common, KRS 1, Ice Cube, Tyga and more.
The extremely industrious C.E.O of Ghanaian based Record Label / Marketing & Distribution firm Black Avenue Muzik/ Works is an artist/ rapper is also a graduate of the University of Ghana, Legon where he studied Theatre Arts/ Film Directing and Music.
