General Pype

The Seven Star General Pype continues to wet our appetite with mixtape joints as we eagerly anticipate his forthcoming Debut Album titled “Champion” which is set to be released anytime soon. He had dropped a couple in June and they were hot.

Now the  Podium Vybez/ Storm Records recording artist hits us with a classic with his take on JayZ‘s “Forever Young” and makes it his own record “Forever Green, Nigeria We Hail Thee” as a celebration cut for Nigeria’s Golden Jubilee. The snippet below is General Pype‘s sincere gift to everyone. Expect the full version to drop soon. It’s dope Nigerian Music!

We have also included some more goodies for you. My fave one is “I Need” in which Pype goes in heavily on Luther Vandross’ hit single, the production is superb and is done by Kenyan Producer, Wawesh.

There’s also a bio on him. Yup! Get familiar & Salute The 7-Star General

Pype aka General Pype, real name Ibrahim Olayiwola Majekodunmi is a reggae/dancehall artiste from Abeokuta, Ogun state but was raised in Lagos. He was introduced to singing in church & joined an acapella group at St Gregory’s Secondary School, Obalende in 1998. The formation grew into a 30-man classical/opera choir, The Triumphant Chorale Voices, which became one of the top three classical groups in Nigeria under the aegis of ASP Mike Ohiri. The group performed at the Eagle Square Abuja to usher in the new Millennium. He also delivered solo performances as the choir’s bass singer accompanied by The Grand Chamber Orchestra which accomplished the rare feat of rendering all three parts of George F. Handel’s “Messiah”.

In 2005, he embraced dancehall and reggae music with the help & support of mentor and manager, Ayo “Pupa” Rotimi who also gave him the moniker PYPE (Prolific Youth Positive Entertainer). Pype first single was in 2007 titled “Keep It Cool” which was featured in Season 6 of the popular American television drama series, –The Shield.

He is currently signed to Podium Vybez/Storm 360 and his smash hit single titled “Champion” with its remix is still burning up the charts; it even got him a deal with the DSTV channel – Super Sport to be used as a theme song.
