For the first time in Lagos, a soul stirring tale, TO LOVE A GHOST; will be presented on stage by DreamPlayHouse Theatre. “To Love A Ghost” is a play written by Ita Hozaife and directed by Kenneth Uphopho. It tells the intriguing yet gripping story of the travails of child abuse, a disturbing trend that continues to be rampant in our society and even the world over.
The story revolves around a young girl, Lois, who learns about life and love a little too fast and a little too hard. She is abused and maltreated by people who should give her protection and guidance in her journey through life.
Drawing from the theatrical arsenal of suspense, humour and unnerving reality, Ita Hozaife, the playwright brings into dramatic reality, the vicissitudes of the life of the protagonist. The playwright dramatises the many contradictions of life whilst the play’s thematic thrust brings to the mind Mahatma Ghandi’s assertion decades ago that, “The world has enough to satisfy man’s need, but not enough for his greed.”
