360Fresh: Miss Abudei reignites the star in the name ‘Lindsey’ after all the Lohan drama

share on:

Ladies & Gentlemen! JayZ said it best ‘Everyday, a Star is Born’. For Lindsey Abudei, this is as true as it can be. I was blown away by her voice when I 1st heard it on MI‘s Jehova & she hasn’t disappointed me yet (apart from the fact that she ain’t dropped an album yet). Here’s the 411 on her

Singer, Songwriter & Law Graduate (Na wa o! She might as well add Miss Universe to it cos homegal is fineee)  – Lindsey Abudei, born February 6 has been tagged as ‘the fresh’ in the Nigerian music industry.

Following the trail of the likes of Asa & TY Bello, she has chosen to break from the norm of what is usually tagged as Nigerian music to her own genre – Soul/Alternative.

A native of the Igbo speaking part of Delta State, Lindsey was born and bred in Jos with parents who had both grown up with musical influences from their families as well. Her mum, a member of a choir at 6, her dad a Disc Jockey in his university days ,her granddad a piano player; she just couldn’t avoid having some influence in her growing years.

In 2004, she often hooked up with friends – MI, Jesse Jagz, IceprinceRuby and together had jam sessions &recordings under the Loopy Records umbrella. It was during this period she started active singing.

Her influences are Stevie Wonder, Roberta Flack, Sade, Eva Cassidy, Sarah Mclachlan, Norah Jones & Corinne Bailey Rae.

She has worked with major artists like MI (Jehovah), Jesse Jagz (Greatest and Jagged Life), Djinee (Thank U), Iceprince, Sage Hasson(Spoken Word), amongst others.  She has had appearances in events like

  • Reception for British High Commissioner- Abuja, 2008
  • Hennessy Artistry Grand Finale-Lagos, 2009
  • Arthur Guinness @ 250 celebration- Lagos, 2009
  • TG1stF @ Silverbird Galleria alongside Dare Art Alade & Bez @ Abuja, June 2010

With a voice like hers, I’m pretty sure we’ll soon be seeing t-shirts with inscriptions ‘I LOVE LINDSEY (not Lohan)’ on them

Peep one of her tracks called ‘Drift Away’. I’ve had it on repeat for like an hour and it got me drifting away from all my worries.

Gud song 8/10 …wot do u think?

  2. Surely, she has great voice. I fell in luv wit jagged life cuz of her voice. Last week, Mtn project fame lost a born winner.

  3. Sad that Nigeria didnt get to see the wonder that is Lindsey- she’s got effortless soul. I hope she can take advantage of the exposure and use the lessons learnt on project fame to take her music career to the next level. Project fame or not she’s definately on the path to Musical Fame. Go Lindsey!

  4. Fantastic song. But project fame is a about live music. Some artistes sound fantastic on CD but not so good live on stage. Hopefully she’ll put to good use the lessons she learnt at the academy. I wish her the very best in her career.
