So there I was watching MTV Base while switching the other channels in PIP mode; when I come across a new video which looked pretty good. I saw the name Michael Ross and wondered which new Nigerian act this was. Went thru my repertoire of mp3s and came up empty. Googled the name and lo & behold, kat wasn’t Nigerian …this is the 360Fresh on the Ugandan RnB King.

Michael Ross Kakooza – 26, was born into a family of fourteen in Kampala, Uganda. He started as a dancer while in primary through to College. During His primary school years, he and three other talented youngsters started a performing group which they affectionately named Boys in Rhythm and was guided by business entrepreneur Peter Sematimba at Makindye’s Dungeon studio. Unfortunately the group soon disbanded due to schooling commitments.

While at college, Michael adopted the stage name ‘Ross‘ as he resumed his passion for dancing. His performances were staged in schools, universities and various public shows. His early success was making an appearance in a music video by the defunct hip hop group Klear Kuts in a song entitled ‘All I wanna know‘. Michael has staged numerous performances throughtout East Africa. (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi).

He has curtain raised and performed along side some of the biggest international stars, most recently Shaggy, Tevin Campbell and Kevin Lyttle.
