TARUWA FESTIVAL OF PERFORMING ARTS IN NIGERIA [TAF] kicked off on Thursday, June 6, with BOBO Omotayo’s book LONDON LIFE, LAGOS LIVING live on the stage for the first time ever!
LONDON LIFE, LAGOS LIVING , The collection of short Lagos-life observations turned ‘tales’, is the extraordinary journey of a western trained mind trying to navigate his way through the Lagos metropolis, and it came alive on stage featuring a stellar cast, including ex-beauty Queen ‘Omotu Bisong’, writer/actor/producer Abiodun Kassim, broadway-trained Ade Laoye, and ex-rapper and Radio-host Abisoye ‘Oluwabibs’ Olurin. The play was hilarious and had the audience in stitches the entire time. It came to an end with a standing ovation, rave reviews and an autograph signing session by the author, Bobo Omotayo. The play owes its success to the fantastic performance given by the cast, the equally amazing and eclectic Director, Kenneth Uphopho, and the Taruwa Festival Convener, Lydia Idakula Sobogun, who also produced the play.
The event also featured a special music performance by BEZ, and was opened by Ijeoma Agu, who performed her one-woman show ‘CHRONICLES OF A HEROINE’. Needless to say the audience was spell-bound.
The Taruwa festival comes to a grand close this evening at 6:30pm with the ANKARA BALL, a night of music, dinner, and dance at Terra Kulture, Tiamiyu Savage, V.I, Lagos. Tickets go for N5,000.
