On July 30, 2011, the Expo Hall, Eko Hotel & Suites, VI, Lagos was invaded with one of the biggest and most anticipated album launches ever done in Nigeria. The biggest music duo in Africa P-Square released “Invasion“ to a massive audience in a glamour filled night.
The event attracted dignitaries from all works of life – from the First Lady of Lagos State – Abimbola Fashola to the Industry’s biggest entertainers – Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, DJ Jimmy Jatt, 9ice, Waje among others.
Hosted by Toolz and Freeze, the performances were breath-taking …the 1st act of the night was Gospel Singer Skid Ikemefuna; then came Rapper Yung 6ix who performed his new single “Follow Me”. Sean P got the crowd in a hysterical fit as he did his own dance version of Cabo Snoop’s “Windeck”. Comedian/Music Artiste White Naija got to perform his joint “Welcome to Naija” along with his jokes and Davido came up next to perform his banging single “Back When”
Upcoming RnB act Seyi Shay came up next and I can’t seem to remember what she sang (pretty much everyone can’t remember) and it was all because of her ‘painted on‘ white catsuit. I kid… she performed her singles “Loving your way” and “No lele“. Lynxx attempted to flow Busta Rhymes sick barz on Chris Breezy‘s “Look At Me Now” and performed a medley of his songs including the hit joint “Change Your Parade”
Ikechukwu screamed It’s DON JAZZY AGAIN and performed hit joints “Whine Am Well” and “Now Is The Time“. Sound Sultan comes on stage performing “VGBG” before entering into the crowd to pull a sweet looking ‘orobo’ for his “Orobo” performance. Dr Sid then makes all the ladies go “Over The Moon“; right before Bovi leaves everyone laughing in stitches.
The Musical duo jump on stage and the final phase of Lagos invasion is activated…
P Square go ahead to perform “I Love You” and “Temptation” before calling Square Records signee May D onstage to perform one of their new singles “Chop My Money“. They then go into “Danger” mode and it then takes like “Forever” for the lights to come back on. Tiwa Savage then performs “Kele Kele” and “Love me (3x)” and also battles it out to Wande Coal‘s “You Bad” with one of her plus-size dancers to determine who’s really BAD (copyright Michael Jackson …RIP King of Pop)
The stage goes all dark as P Square and their dance crew get all illuminated to put on a routine LaurieAnn Gibson would be proud off. LKT joined them onstage to perform “Follow Follow“. The P Square continue with their medley of hit joints “Busy Body“, “No Like U“, “Impossibility” and also a new joint off the album called “Asamkpokoto“.
The Bashorun himself – 9ice comes on to perform “All The Way” with them before P Square perform the massive joint “Bunieya Enu“. J Martins and One half of Bracket came on to perform. The duo then drop “Ifunaya” to get the crowd pumped up and ready for soul diva Waje to serenade everyone with the words of Toni Braxton‘s “Let It Flow” and Monica‘s “Angel Of Mine“. P Square then joined her to perform the monster joint “Do Me“.
Muna and Eva kill the beats thrown at them by P Square who take control of the keys. P Square then get all every artiste in the Hall to come on stage as they close out with “E No Easy”
It was a lovely night and we have some moments of the performances as captured by Flytime just for you.
