After seeing ‘The Hangover (2009)’, i had to edit my book to insert it as one of the craziest and funniest movies iv seen in my life. And thus even i wasn’t expecting a sequel to drop so soon, and just like some buddies of mine are currently asking about the upcoming sequel to Angelina Jolie’s ‘Salt‘, i asked myself- “What else do they wanna show us”.

Still unsure about my final decision to see ‘The Hangover II‘, for i had earlier planned to see another movie based on “a carpenter with a magical hammer”, i took my seat in the cinema hall far from the obvious “Nollywood People” and away from parents who deemed it fit to bring their young kids to see the movie (i wonder how they’ll explain a couple of scenes to them afterward *chuckle*) waiting patiently for the camera to begin rolling.

The Hangover was a crazy movie however this sequel which picks up from where the 2009 original ended proved to be even crazier. Two years after their ordeal and adventure in Las Vegas, the Wolfpack, Phil, Doug, Stu, and Alan travel to Thailand for Stu’s wedding to Lauren accompanied by Teddy (Lauren’s brother). To hang out one last time the gang decides to chill out on the beach around a campfire and make a toast to the impending wedding whilst roasting marshmallows.

The next day, Stu, Alan and phil wake up, with no recollection of what transpired the previous night, in a hotel Bangkok. Alan’s head is shaven, Stu has got a huge tattoo on his face, Doug is back at the resort where they stayed, and Teddy (who hung out with them on the beach) is missing. Trying to get a grip of things and understand the predicament they are in, the gang must run against time to figure out what happened to them and most importantly find Teddy and get back to the resort for the wedding. As easy as that may sound, it gets harder and more difficult as they get caught in a deal involving Mr. Chow (a familiar face from the past) and get involved with some Russians.

This movie breaks all boundaries of craziness and it has got a lot of scenes that would make viewers laugh till their ribs hurt. Normally i don’t get bugged by movies trying too hard to be funny, however it comes naturally in this movie so get ready to be rattled. The lead actors in this movie were really convincing in their performance and when you think it can’t get any crazier, it does making you unsure of what will come up next.

Going any further might tempt me to drop some spoilers however i’ll keep it clean and just tell you this; if you want to see a movie that would make you laugh, i recommend that you go check this one out. Plus make sure you watch out for my favorite character in the movie, The Monkey.

iRecommend

Rating: 7/10

*The Hangover II is currently showing at cinemas in Nigeria

My best line would be from Alan; “When a monkey nibbles on a weenus its the same in any language”. It is a nice movie I will want to watch again
